The last seven seconds of a goldfish life is definitely down in my book as one of the classic David’s Daily Digital Dollop moments of the year: surreal yet heartfelt; poignant yet slightly hysteria-inducing. Thank-you for this.
Glad you got all that, coz that’s exactly the effect I was going for.
On another more serious point, we had a toilet in my old house which used to sound like the Doctor Who theme. No-one else seemed to appreciate it when I’d point out the uncanny diddly-dum diddly-dum diddly-dum diddly-dum sound that made up the first 30 seconds of the flush. Then 40 seconds in there would be this high-pitched “Woo-oo” which was note-for-note the next section of the Doctor Who theme. Even when I sang along with it, everyone just gave me puzzled looks. I’m really tempted to go back to that house and record it for you – I’m just figuring out a convincing reason to gain entry…. and use the toilet of course. Bear with me on this one.
I think the Dollop is convincing and as a good a reason as any.
